Abstract

Religious buildings, on the other hand, became barracks, hospices, hospitals, neighborhoods and private residences; The old cemeteries were transformed into squares, squares or markets and public gardens. Con la aplicación de las leyes de desamortización de bienes decretada el año de 1856, se afectaron las propiedades de la Iglesia Católica y de las corporaciones civiles; de esta forma, se utilizaron algunas huertas de los conventos para construir calles y casas ampliándose así la ciudad. Los edificios religiosos por su parte, se convirtieron en cuarteles, hospicios, hospitales, vecindades y en residencias particulares; los antiguos cementerios se transformaron en plazas, plazuelas o mercados y jardines públicos. Ante los embates de Reforma Liberal del año mencionado, la reacción de los integrantes del partido conservador no se hizo esperar, ante ello, promocionaron el trono mexicano en Europa, lo cual hizo que Napoleón III se interesara en el proyecto porque pretendía asentar un imperio de corte francés en América.
