Arte de mujeres: tres pintoras mexicanas a la luz del feminismo

Abstract

The present investigation deals with three crucial moments of the art processes: the sociocultural conditions in which women try to produce art, the subjective conditions of the creative moment and the reception of the work. The foregoing with the intention of providing a panorama that reveals the vicissitudes that women have faced throughout history. Art and aesthetics were challenged by feminism in the seventies, which revealed the lack of recognition of women artists and their works of art. Women embody elements of their sensitive experience in their works of art that are not recognized by the hegemonic discourses of art and aesthetics. What has made it difficult for women to be recognized as artists and for their works to be valued and cataloged, rather they are marginalized to a lower stratum called women's art.

La presente investigación versa en tres momentos cruciales de los procesos del arte: las condiciones socioculturales en las que las mujeres intentan producir arte, las condiciones subjetivas del momento creativo y la recepción de la obra. Lo anterior con la intención de proporcionar un panorama que devela las vicisitudes a las que se han enfrentado las mujeres a lo largo de la historia. El arte y la estética fueron interpelados por el feminismo en los años setenta, lo que develó la falta de reconocimiento a las mujeres artistas y a sus obras de arte. Las mujeres plasman en sus creaciones artísticas elementos de su experiencia sensible que no son reconocidos por los discursos hegemónicos del arte y la estética. Esto ha dificultado que las mujeres sean reconocidas como artistas o que sus obras sean valoradas y catalogadas, pues más bien son marginadas a un estrato menor denominado arte de mujeres.
